Mixed media- with stencils...

MAy 2013 038
Hey bloggers today I am sharing a project that started as an experimentation!
It's also Mixed Media Friday at Artistcellar
and they have some prizes to give away on this weeks blog hop so you will want to check it out!
I  to play with the new Chris Cozen Stencils at Artistcellar!

May 2013 001
I was just checking out the stencils at first, using Distress Inks. I put layer upon layer of the same color; lighty tapping on the color on the first layer, switching up and moving the stencils, then really loading up the sponge, using more ink as I overlapped the following layers. I was just playing, it was not my original intention to make anything but I thought it made for a great background, so I decided to work with it - I drew a girl...

And in case you missed this on the
Faber-Castell blog I wanted to post this here...
***
One of the things I love about having a big studio is
there is plenty of room for the the kids.
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft did a
cross promo with Creativity For kids and we were
given a mask kit to do with the kids.

Everything is in the kit (except Gelatos) even the tarp!

It dried pretty quickly but we let it sit overnight.

The kids had to trim strings and sand down any rough spots before starting.

The kit comes with paints, glue, glue glitter, feathers and gems to dress up your mask.
We added Gelatos- the colors were primary colors.

Of course I had to make one too...
Whew!
That was a big post and I still have a busy day ahead!!!

Happy Anniversary!

Hey there bloggers today is mixed media Friday
and I am sharing a mixed media layout!
It's a scrap-lift from  Misty Russell -
it was gorgeous so I had to copy lift it!
I don't know how she went about hers but here's how I made mine.

First I started with a foil embossed paper ( DCWV )
Added some texture with modeling paste

(Another view)

After it was dry I added some color with Dylusions Ink spray.
Another view.
Oh and those circles in the back? Drywall tape!!
Love it!
Then I cut up some flags and sprayed some of those.
Added them onto my page, mxing in pattern paper (Susan K Weckeser) cut flags,
overlapping each other with some heavy gel medium.
Sprayed a ton of flowers to match.
And added a little text- Oh yeah- the pic on the left
was from our honeymoon way back when and the pic
on the right is last year. Today is our anniversary so I felt it was fitting.
Which reminds me - we need to take a  new photo!
And I need to scrap-lift more often, that was fun!

Pink Paislee and Faber-Castell

May 2013 007
Hey there bloggers!! Guess what?  There are not one but TWO
product giveaways on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft this week!
This project is from the Pink Paislee/ Faber Castell Design Memory Craft giveaway!
So go to the blog to find out how to win!

(I used Banana and Tangerine Gelatos®,
Stampers Big Brush 107 Cadmium yellow, 113 Orange Glaze on these pages.)

May 2013 013
We were given the Pink Paislee Artisan Collection to work with; If you are not familiar with this line, it looks like it's all white or off white but it
all has a resist or texture perfect to use with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft!
The covers actually have fabric adhered to the board, so it was fun to work with!

May 2013 002
I used the same technique on all the pages, drew with Gelatos, sprayed with water and spread the color with a paint brush.  I did the same for the Artisan tab dividers, ribbons, titles, chipboard, and elements. I used Grape and Blueberry Gelatos® for the cover and back page of the book. To get more coverage on the Elements and titles I went back  over with the matching PITT Stampers big brush.
The elements and titles have adhesive on the back and a rubbery feel to them - I don't know what it is but it's cool!

May 2013 003
